The following countries are member states of African Intellectual Property Organization, (OAPI) which covers 17 countries: Gabon, Cameroon, Republic of Congo, Central Africa Republic, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Mali, Mauritania, Chad, Togo, Benin, Burkina-Faso, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Niger, Equatorial Guinea and Comoros (as from May 25.2013).
Currently there are 18 Member States of the ARIPO. Of these 18 Member States, only 9 countries have acceded to the Banjul Protocol (relating to trade marks) and may be designated in an ARIPO application.
They are: Botswana-Namibia-Uganda-Lesotho-Liberia-Swaziland-Zimbabwe-Malawi-Tanzania (Tanganyika)
