Chafic Nehme is a member of SRDB Worldwide Network in Lebanon since 2022.
He began his legal career in 1985 in Beirut, primarily working in the banking, finance, corporate, commercial/civil, and litigation sectors.
In 1997, he was tasked with assisting a pool of Saudi and Emirati investors to handle all legal tasks related to the acquisition of four Lebanese banks and their merger into a new leading bank, thereby completing the largest merger operation in the country at the time. He served as the General Counsel of the group until 2002, undertaking the roles of board secretary and head of the legal department, where he restructured and led the internal legal department of the new entity and reorganized the external network of law firms inherited from the four merged entities. He provided the board with legal assistance on all aspects of banking and finance law, including banking guarantees and loans, syndications and other financings, debt restructuring and recovery, and derivatives.
Chafic has acquired extensive experience in telecommunications, real estate and hospitality, Islamic Sharia, and the laws of Arab countries, company formations, joint ventures, corporate secretarial and administrative services, establishing branches, subsidiaries, and representative offices in cross-border transactions and agencies, and concessions.
In litigation and arbitration, Chafic has covered a diverse range of disputes, including in in relation to contracts, banking, transportation, intellectual property, and asset recovery.
Chafic was awarded a Ph.D. by the University Paris II – Panthéon – Assas (1995), a master’s degree (1987) and a Bachelor’s degree in law (1985) from Saint Joseph University of Beirut.
